Travel Inspired Interior Design Part 1: New Orleans

Travel Inspired Interior Design

Welcome to our four-part series on travel inspired interior design. We begin this series with the home of Nash Narrative, New Orleans. From its storied and turbulent past to present-day festivals, the French Quarter provides ample inspiration for eclectic interior design.

French Quarter Colors

New Orleans is known for colorful houses that set the French Quarter apart from many other historic American neighborhoods. Bright yellow, blue, and pink homes line the streets. The vibrant colors lend a freshness to the timeless architecture. French blue shutters elevate plain white exteriors.

Blessed with a subtropical climate, New Orleans enjoys greenery year-round. Neon pink bougainvillea and green palm trees bob over narrow streets. In the springtime, jasmine spills over walls and balconies. The dreamy cream blossoms waft a romantic perfume over the streets.

An Eclectic City Inspiring Eclectic Design

The colors of the French Quarter embody the eclectic nature of the city. Curling ironwork wraps around New Orleans balconies covered in flowers and vines. The patina softens the bold paint of buildings. The ironwork and architecture also invite comparisons to cities like Havana and San Juan.

This is a cosmopolitan city - a place where cultures from Africa, Latin America, Indigenous North America, and Europe have mingled for centuries. Native New Orleanians take pride in that mix of cultures. Is it any wonder that New Orleans inspires colorful interiors with elements from around the world?

New Orleans Touches for Interior Design

The timeless colors and architecture of the French Quarter hold endless possibilities for interior design.  Our favorite way to bring New Orleans’ whimsy into interior design is, of course, photography prints. Shop Nash Narrative’s French Quarter Collection today!
